This document aims to present the information to know about eSim management in mytem360.
1. General Information
The user journey around the eSIM is simplified. It now becomes a feature of the SIM card, similar to what is found with carriers.
mytem360 therefore allows managing both physical SIM cards (triple cut) and digital SIM cards (eSIM).
The link between the physical ownership of the equipment and the possibility to associate an eSIM with it has been loosened, ultimately allowing multiple lines with different SIM types to be associated (up to 3 lines).
It is now possible to order a line from equipment directly from the inventory to ensure ordering flexibility.
Prerequisites:
To be able to use the eSIM in mytem360, the following is required:
- that the eSIM nature of a SIM card is declared in the tool's settings (Catalog Management -> List of available equipment)
- that the configuration including the eSIM is made available in inventory management and/or in ordering (Catalog Management -> List of available equipment)
2. Easily Differentiate a Physical SIM from an eSIM in the Inventory Management Module
In the Inventory Management module, it is easy to distinguish the nature of a SIM card thanks to the icons placed just before the card reference in the SIM/SAM 1, SIM/SAM 2, and SIM/SAM 3 columns:
Label "SIM" for formats: Nano SIM, Micro SIM, Mini SIM, Triple cut, Hardened Nano SIM, Hardened Micro SIM, Hardened Mini SIM, Hardened Triple cut
Label "e" for the eSIM format
3. Display of the SIM Card Type
The SIM card type is directly displayed in the inventory management table via the columns "SIM/SAM Type 1", "SIM/SAM Type 2", and "SIM/SAM Type 3". This allows identifying and filtering directly the formats Nano SIM, Micro SIM, Mini SIM, Triple cut, Hardened Nano SIM, Hardened Micro SIM, Hardened Mini SIM, Hardened Triple cut, and eSIM.
The card type is also shown on the SIM card record:
A simple click on this field allows modifying the SIM card format (the offered formats reflect the account settings)
4. Adding an eSIM to the Inventory
Just as it is already possible to add a physical SIM card to a management group, the "eSIM" property is also offered (if configured) when creating a SIM card from inventory management:
5. Associating Multiple Lines on the Same Equipment
With the redesign of the SIM card and eSIM in the mytem360 environment, the physical properties of equipment (see below) have been loosened to allow more flexible management of line associations.
In an increasingly advanced technological environment, where equipment can host multiple lines with multiple SIM types, it seemed necessary that the tool offers this capability.
4 physical equipment properties managed in mytem360 :
Good to know :
Depending on the equipment type, a maximum number of associations is proposed :
- Device/mobile: up to 3 line associations possible (line 1, line 2, line 3)
- Device/POS: up to two line associations possible (line 1, line 2)
- Device/Tablet: only one line association possible (line 1)
* The number of associations is proposed based on the "slots" available on the equipment :
Example : if a mobile device is already equipped with one line, it will only propose two associations instead of 3; if the equipment is already associated with 3 lines, the tool will no longer propose any associations, etc.
Mobile device without a line offering up to 3 associations :
6. Ordering a New Line from Equipment in Inventory
In this context of being able to equip a device with multiple lines, a new management action is available in the actions related to the equipment: "Order a new line".
General information about this action :
- The action is enabled by default in the tool's default management actions profile, so all managers can see it; the action can of course be removed if it will not be used or for any other convenience.
- The action is only visible on the equipment.
- It is not possible to order a new line as long as the previous line order is not closed.
- The action will not be visible if there are no more association slots available for the equipment (see above).
