Overview
When a search (free text or grouped search) finds items whose corresponding value is part of a column not displayed in your profile, the relevant column automatically appears at the end of the grid with the values highlighted.
It disappears as soon as you clear the search. Your profile is never modified automatically, but you still have the option to add this column to your profile.
How to Recognize It?
A temporary column is visually distinct from the columns in your profile:
- Header with a distinct colored background (lighter) and a specific icon:
- Presence of a + button: allows you to add the column to your active profile
- On hovering over the +: displays the message "Column revealed by your search. Add it to your profile to keep it"
- Positioned at the far right of your usual columns
- Values matching your search term are highlighted in the cells.
Behavior Depending on the Type of Search
| Type of Search | Displayed Column(s) |
|---|---|
| Free text search | Textual columns outside the profile whose cells contain the entered term. Maximum of 5 columns simultaneously. Columns of type amount, date, or icon are not included. |
| Grouped search (IMEI, SIM, asset tag, serial number, custom field…) | The column corresponding directly to the searched identifier type, even if it is absent from your profile. The column appears even if some values in the list are not found. |
Keeping a Temporary Column in Your Profile
If you want to permanently keep a temporary column in your view:
- Click the + button (in its header)
- Select “Add to profile”
- A confirmation message appears: “Column added to your profile”
The column loses its temporary style and will remain visible after clearing the search and every time you return to asset management.
| ✅ The “Add to profile” action is available only in the temporary columns menu: it does not appear on your usual columns. |
Examples
| Situation | What Happens |
|---|---|
| You search “SN2024” (free text) and your profile does not include the “Serial Number” column | The “Serial Number” column appears at the end of the grid with the values “SN2024…” highlighted. |
| You run a grouped search on 50 IMEIs and the “IMEI 1” column is not in your profile | The “IMEI 1” column appears automatically. The 47 found IMEIs are highlighted, the 3 not found are shown in the results banner. |
| You apply a site filter while a temporary column is displayed | The temporary column remains. The results are recalculated based on the new scope. |
| You clear the search | Temporary columns disappear. Your column profile remains unchanged. |
| ⚠️ Temporary columns are not available on the line list, billing, after-sales service, or orders, only on the inventory management grid. |
