|Understand differences when using tablets / iPads with Datalert|
Datalert works with tablets and iPads
Tablets and iPads are a little different than smartphones as they cannot receive SMS. For that reason, Datalert makes a difference. When integrated, a tablet / iPad is tagged as not able to receive SMS. So when normally a device is receiving an SMS, the tablet / iPad will receive an email instead.
During the enrollment process
If the enrollment process is done with a deep link ( a message that contains a link for the enrollment), a tablet / iPad will receive the message via email. The user taps on the link contained within the email. From that point is it exactly the same process as with a smartphone.
When the device hits a threshold and receives a message
When a device hits a threshold contained in the policy, it receives first a local notification. Tablets / iPads and smartphones can receive notification so no difference here. The message selected into the policy, to be sent is sent by SMS to a smartphone and by email for a tablet / iPad.
Notifications are not affected by this difference as tablets / iPads and smartphones can receive notifications
